Hapoel Beer Sheva have been drawn against Moldovan champions Sheriff Tiraspol in the second qualifying round of the Champions League.
The Israeli champions will host the Moldovans in the Negev on July 12/13, with the away fixture the following week in Tiraspol.
The draw was kind to the Israelis considering they were seeded in the weaker half of the pot for their first-ever appearance in this competition.
But Barak Bakhar, the Hapoel manager, has warned against complacency. "Any team qualifying for the Champions League is going to be a difficult team to bea, he said.
“We'll have to look closely at Sheriff, which is a team with a lot of European experience and we'll do everything to go as far as possible in European competition. That's one of our aims for this coming season."
In the Europa League, Ligat Ha’Al runners-up Maccabi Tel Aviv have been drawn against Slovenia's Gorica in the first qualifying round. They will play Teuta (Albania) or Almaty (Kazakhstan) if they progress.
Beitar Jerusalem meet Bosnia's Tuzla and the winner faces Balnts (Armenia) or Omonia (Cyprus). Maccabi Haifa have a bye to the second round where they meet Kalju of Estonia or Trakai of Lithuania.
First round matches June 30 and July 7, second round matches July 14 and 21.
