Five-star Lions Vets destroy Rayners Lane

An away midweek game, coupled with a few injuries and bobbly pitch to contend with, were ingredients for a difficult night, but an all-round fine display enabled Maccabi London Lions Vets to secure the three points they came for.

Josh Bentley slotted into the heart of the defence and had an excellent game – physically commanding, as expected, but his use of the ball throughout was exceptional. Rob Glass, Jon Rayner and Tony Gold were their usual busy selves, while Alex Levack, Craig Pearl, Dan Stanton and latterly Paul Linger controlled midfield almost from the off.

And thus from this solid base the side tried to play. Paul Lenchner led the line superbly while the craft and guile of Brad Lazarus and Hadley Silver saw Lions create chances.
