
Team Maccabi GB won another sackload of medals, with the swimmers and ten pin bowlers coming up trumps. There were also good wins in the tennis, football and some exciting futsal matches, with the delegation on course for more medals when the action resumes on Sunday.
SWIMMING
Sam Russo praised her squad for a phenomenal achievement after they finished the Swimming competition with a sensational 39-medal haul.
Ellie Grant was the squad's most successful performer, winning an incredible seven golds, two silver and a bronze.
Russo told JC Sport: "It was an amazing performance which came as a result of lots of hard work. On Thursday the conditions were freezing cold but we stuck together and everyone helped keep spirits high. There was great teamwork. Our medal hauled surpassed my expectations and I hope the experience has made the juniors more confident when they return to their clubs in England."

TENNIS - LADIES OPEN
Sam Cohen is through to the final of the Ladies Singles following an impressive 6-0, 6-1 success in the semis.
Lee Meranda and Rochelle Boyne are through to quarter-finals of Masters Mixed Doubles.
Adam Pacifico and Nicola Buckwald also progressed to the last eight of the Masters Mixed Doubles, winning 9-1.

BASKETBALL - JUNIORS - GB 78 GERMANY 56
GB registered a morale-boosting victory after seeing off Germany 78-56.

OPEN FUTSAL - GB 6 ISRAEL 6
GB came from 4-1 and 5-2 down to preserve their unbeaten record in a thriller against Israel and win their group.
Goals from Jon Kurrant (2), Alfie Brooks (2), Charlie Kasler and Nick Landesberg ensured GB win the group. They are in semi-final action on Sunday.
Boss Andy Landesberg told JC Sport: "That was our toughest test yet. Israel are a fantastic team. They know how to play the game very well, and their goalkeeper had an unbelievable game.
"We got a bit of a shock and were maybe a bit complacent but we're looking forward to the quarters on Sunday."

U16 FOOTBALL - GB 5 SPAIN 1
Harry Russell (3) inspired GB to a five-star win over Spain.
Tyler Smith added two more as the team maintained their 100 per cent start.

U18 FOOTBALL - GB 0 GERMANY 1
GB U18's suffered their first defeat of the competition as they were edged out by the hosts in a tight contest.

U16 FUTSAL - GB 3 TURKEY 1
GB finished top of their group thanks to goals from Ethan Novack (2) and Jared Rand in a 3-1 win over Turkey.
They will play Spain in the semi-finals.

U18 FUTSAL - GB 5 ITALY 5
A brilliant brace the wizard, Chaim Korman, including an equalising goal 20 seconds from time, boosted GB's hopes of reaching the final.
There were also goals for Danny Stapleton, Jordan Nathan and Asher Goldberg.
Korman equalised 20 seconds from the end after GB had taken off their keeper and replaced him with a fifth outfield player.
GB boss Adam Lustigman told JC Sport: "Today was our biggest test and we equipped ourselves superbly. At 3-1 down, we showed amazing spirit and resilience to stay in the game and come back.
"The chances are we'll play Italy in the final and I'm confident we'll give them a game."
Two-goal hero Chaim Korman told JC Sport: "This is what the Maccabiah is all about - last-minute goals and excitement."

OPEN FOOTBALL - GB 1 SWITZERLAND 0 (Latest score)
Scond-half strikes from Ricky Engleman and Yoav Kestenbaum earned holders GB a 2-0 success over Switzerland to set up a semi-final showdown against Germany on Sunday.
GB boss Jonny Rose told JC Sport: "A win is a win, and it's a clean sheet - our first of the tournament. We're undefeated and we'll go into the semis full of confidence. Now we've got a shot at a medal.

MASTERS FUTSAL - GB 2 SOUTH AFRICA 3
GB finished bottom of their group after going down 3-2 against South Africa.
Danny Reuben and Jamie Lustigman registered for GB who, needing to score score five times to progress, gambled and took off keeper Phil Caplin, who had a blinder, and conceded twice in the last two minutes.
GB scorer Danny Reuben told JC Sport: "I'm gutted for Phil, Gideon and the boys and it could have been so different. In the end it all came down to small margins here and there, but that's why we love sport."

TABLE TENNIS
Daniel Spurling claimed victory in the first round of the Men's Open
Team Event.
Jeremy Banks of Maccabi Scotland defeated GB's Ivan Lewis in the Team Event.
Dov Katz beat Scottish international Brian Wright 3-1 and Jeremy Banks 3-0 to secure a minimum of a silver in the Team event.
Katz told JC Sport: "I've never beaten Brian before so it was the performance of a lifetime. It was great to beat Jeremy to and secure a place in the final."

Russ Snipper, Richard Da Costa and Craig Grant won silver in the Trios.
There was also a bronze for Brad Mervish and Russell Shear who teamed up with a player from Sweden.
