Dyrham Park were the dominant force at the 21st Ladies National Tournament for the UK Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies in Arkley
May 23, 2017 09:04Host club Dyrham Park secured seven trophies, including the main prize - the Team Gross Cup.
After a deluge of rain on the practice day, the sun came out and the weather stayed dry until the end of the competition.
The Pairs Gross went to Suzanne Kara and Diana Rubin of Dyrham Park, while the Pairs Nett was collected by Lisa Mapletoft and Penny Bourne of Coombe Hill.
Other trophies were won by the Combined Societies and Abridge. Yen Pham of Shirley Park secured the Singles Gross Trophy with a gross score of 78.
Amongst the competitors this year were a mother and daughter in the Dyrham Park team – Laura and Olivia Raelbrook. Competition newcomer Olivia celebrated her 17th birthday on the practice day. She won the Singles Nett Trophy with a nett 72 and her mum Laura won the runner-up to the Singles Gross with a gross 85. An amazing mother/daughter triumph.
The Ladies National has become a permanent fixture in the Jewish golfing calender. It is the only competition where ladies from Jewish Golf Clubs and Societies, fro across the United Kingdom and Ireland, have a chance to compete with each other.
This was the third time Dyrham Park hosted the event - they held the inaugural competition in in 1997 and again a year later.
The teams this year were Abridge, Bonnyton, Coombe Hill, Dyrham Park, Dunham Forest, Edmonstown, Hartsbourne, Lee Park, Moor Allerton, Shirley, Combined Societies and Whitefield.
The competition is staged alternatively in London and the provinces and will be held next year at Bonnyton Golf Club in Glasgow for the first time, on May 17.
