Maccabi Tel Aviv suffered their second consecutive Champions League defeat after going down 2-0 at home to an efficient Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday night.
Beaten 4-0 by Chelsea on Matchday One, the Israeli champions were looking to put in an improved performance in front of their fans, but two goals at the beginning of each half kept them rooted to the bottom of Group G.
It took the visitors only four minutes to open the scoring as Derlis González played a defence-splitting pass and Andriy Yarmolenko who slotted past Maccabi keeper Predrag Rajković.
Kiev were comfortable in possession and rarely stretched at the back, although Maccabi right-back Eli Dasa served up a series of dangerous crosses that evaded Eden Ben Basat.
Maccabi, who mustered only one effort on target all night, freshened things up at half-time, with Israeli winger Tal Ben Chaim replacing Ben Basat. But he could only look on as Kiev doubled their advantage with a goal of stunning simplicity.
Another clinical counter-attack from the visitors saw Derlis González cut into the penalty area before finding Júnior Moraes, who skiped round one challenge and curls into the corner of the net after 50 minutes.
Ben Chaim was Maccabi's best outlet in the remaining 40 minutes but the hosts were not clever enough to break through a well-drilled Kiev defence.
The group's other match saw Porto inflict a first defeat on Chelsea, with Andre Andre registering the decisive strike.
