Michael Klinger cut an emotional figure after playing his final innings in Australia.

A tearful Klinger, 38, hugged his team-mates in the dug-out after scoring 30 for Perth Scorchers in their Big Blast victory over the Melbourne Stars.

Klinger said: “I have fantastic memories of my time with the Scorchers. I’d like to thank my team-mates, coaching and support staff and all our fantastic fans for making my time so meaningful and enjoyable at this great club.”

Australian Klinger has confirmed his short-term playing arrangements. He will travel to South Africa to play for Paarl Rocks in the Mzansi Super League before rejoining his team-mates at Gloucestershire in England for his seventh season in the T20 Blast.”

Looking further ahead, he added: “I’m looking forward to what the future holds for me in cricket, either on or off the field.”
