Wingate & Finchley waltzed through to the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round with a highly convincing 2-0 win over Witham Town.

In truth the scoreline flattered the visitors who, had it not been for the heroics of keeper Rhys Madden, could have been hugely embarrassed.

Wingate & Finchley hit the post twice in the same move in the first half, after Ahmet Rifat had walked through the defence, Tim Lees took over and sent the first effort onto the inside of the left post - and then Kieran Street struck the opposite post from the rebound.

The Blues dominated possession and front pair Chris Chase and Wayne Grant peppered the goal from distance but Madden saved everything expertly.
