Sergei Richter claimed Israel's second medal at the European Games in Baku after winning claimed bronze in the men's 10 meter air rifle competition.
Richter, 26, who finished ninth in the London Olympics, scored 628.7 points, which earned him Olympic qualification for Rio as well as a third place finish.
He said: "For me achieving the Olympic criteria was more important than the medal.
"I've been struggling to do this in recent competitions and the tension was becoming unbearable. Now I can relax and look forward to Rio."
There was also joy for Israel's rhythmic gymnasts after they collected silver medals.
