Israel pair Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich produced a stunning fightback to shock defending Olympic champions Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka in the men’s doubles.
The Swiss stars, who won gold in Beijing four years ago, had been expected to cruise through the second round tie after taking the first set 6-1 in just 28 minutes.
But the Israeli aces refused to give up on their dream of an Olympic medal and levelled the match at 1-1 following a tense second set tie-break.
Buoyed by their success, Ram and Erlich continued to dominate and coolly served out to take the final set 6-3 and book their place in the last eight of the competition.
