articlemain

Andrew Cohen was crowned overall champion at the 21st Maccabi GB Lawn Bowls Finals at Bishopswood Bowls Club, Finchley.

Cohen, who last won the title in 2012, overcame Frank Dryer 21-12 in the final.

The Men’s Pairs was won by Terry Lichkin and Tony Pannick. They beat the Woodcock Park pairing of Ray Ebrahimi and Michael Baum, 17-14, to retain their title.

The Mixed Pairs trophy was won by mother-and-son combination of Barbara and Andrew Cohen, who beat Alan Cohen and his partner, Marienne Wainstein, 19-18. It was a nail-biting finale, with the winning point coming with the very last wood.

In the Mel Richfield Trophy - played for in memory of Maccabi GB’s first chairman - Coral Kauffmann beat Edgar Fineberg, her fellow Bishopswood Club member, to win her first ever singles trophy.

In the friendly matches played during the summer, Maccabi GB Lawn Bowls played Rowley Lane twice, losing one and drawing the second. The team won matches against Bishopswood, Selborne, Ajex and Bush Hill Park, but lost to Woodcock Park.
