David Wolff, chairman of the JC MSFL, has voiced his concerns about the season being completed after virtually the entire programme was called off on Sunday due to the weather.

Things had looked promising up until the early hours of Sunday morning when a torrential downpour led to matches in North West and East London being postponed at the last minute.

Only three games were played. A full programme has not been played since early December with frozen or waterlogged pitches leaving league organisers with a race against time to get the campaign completed.

Wolff said: “This season is the worst it has been for a while weather-wise. It’s a nuisance but we’ll get around it. We will have to use all devices available to us. We must have double-headers and midweek fixtures and will need the cooperation of teams. The cup competitions will have to take second place.”

The league chief confirmed that the JC Barry Goldstein Trophy will be scrapped this season and that, weather-permitting, a full programme will be arranged for Easter weekend.
