An impressive bowling and fielding performance helped Chigwell & Hainault power to a comprehensive victory over Belmont & Edgware 2nd in a friendly.

BECC won the toss and elected to bat but were never able to put their foot on the accelerator due to some miserly bowling and a slightly damp outfield.

Chigwell gave very little away with the ball, with openers Katseph and Moodley setting the tone with the new ball and Levy, Khan and Myers followed suit. Katseph was the pick of the bowlers, continuing his good form, bowling with pace and guile. He picked up Mayer early on and returned to dismiss Alterman and Levy at the end of the innings.

Alterman, with a score of 30, was the pick of the Belmont and Edgware batsmen playing a lot of impressive cover drives but he was rarely able to pierce the infield.

A score of 103 was unlikely to be enough to defend, despite the slow outfield but BECC picked up three wickets relatively quickly. Nigel Katseph was dismissed in the second over, shortly followed by Matt Murray and Lloyd Duddridge, who was superbly caught at midwicket.

With the score at 25-3, Belmont were getting momentum but once the impressive Kramer was removed from the attack, Chigwell & Hainault's batsmen took to the attack with Joshua Rose and Conrad Simon punishing any loose bowling with ferocity to the boundary.

Simon (29 not out) in particular looked dangerous after his previous knock of 66 and he hit a towering six off the bowling of Simon Taylor.

Chigwell & Hainault ended up winning at a canter, with Rose scoring the winning runs in an impressive knock of 43 not out.
