Alexandra Raisman was made to sweat before claiming bronze in the women’s individual beam at North Greenwich Arena.
Raisman, 18, appeared to have missed out following her routine after judges placed her fourth with a score of 14.966.
But the American, who won gold in last week’s team event, was promoted into the bronze medal position after an appeal.
Raisman finished fourth in the individual all-around final last week and looked to have suffered a similar fate once again.
She looked visibly upset after the original score placed her outside of the medals with Romania's Catalina Ponor taking bronze.
But a successful appeal had her jumping for joy and placed her behind the Chinese pair of Deng Linlin and Sui Lu.
