I was reading Andrew Rosemarine's little biog about the possible next Israeli ambassador to London, Daniel Taub. Possible, because he hasn't received agreement yet and his appointment has yet to be announced by the Israeli government.
I was struck by one sentence:
In addition to giving him six children
Giving him six children?
Wasn't it a joint effort?
Did Mrs Taub go up to Mr Taub one day and say to him: "Here you are, Danny, I'm giving you a kid. I'll have a few more to give you if you like."
I dunno, but it sounds a very Victorian way of putting things.
