One of the longest serving headteachers in Jewish schools, Yavneh’s Spencer Lewis, has received a silver award in this year’s Pearson National Teaching Awards.
Nominated as the secondary headteacher of the year category, he has led the Hertfordshire college for 12 years, preceded by six in charge of King Solomon High School in Redbridge.
He was handed by his award in a special ceremony at the school by the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss earlier this month.
The college is in the top 10 per cent of state schools. He is also executive head of Yavneh Primary, which was rated outstanding in all categories by the inspection service earlier this year.
