Schools network PaJeS becomes independent from the Jewish Leadership Council

January 17, 2022 13:12PaJeS, the schools network set up by the Jewish Leadership Council, has become an independent organisation.
The move would “provide PaJeS with the freedom it needs to continue to service our schools,” outgoing JLC chairman Jonathan Goldstein said.
Partnerships for Jewish Schools, whose professional head is Rabbi David Meyer and which is chaired by lawyer Sarah Anticoni, was established 10 years ago following a report into the future of Jewish schooling in the UK.
Its core functions include professional training and curriculum development for Ivrit, Jewish history and other subjects and during the pandemic it has played a major role in supporting schools in providing remote learning.
“Our schools are the pride of our community and they deserve only the highest quality support, which PaJeS provides,” said Mr Goldstein, who chaired PaJeS before becoming chair of the JLC.
Key backers such as the Wohl Foundation and the Genesis Philanthropy Group have voiced support for the move.
The JLC will continue working with PaJeS, which had a budget of around £900,000 last year, on public affairs.
Ms Anticoni said, “PaJeS has come of age thanks to the initial vision and support of the JLC, led by Jonathan Goldstein. Our commitment to supporting Jewish schools , their leadership teams and staff is as strong as ever.
“We will continue to strive to make pupils’ Jewish school experience, an excellent one.”
