Nancy Reuben wins debating cup

A team from Nancy Reuben Primary out-talked their rivals to emerge as the inaugural winners of a debating contest for Jewish primary schools.

The champions came through three rounds of Zoom debates, covering issues such as the benefits of fame, the value of technology to children and whether pupils should be paid to go school.

Daniel Sunshine, Nancy Reuben’s deputy head, said: “It was wonderful to see pupils across all schools not only articulating themselves so clearly, passionately and respectfully but also in being able to respond to some very tough questions from opposing teams.

“We hope to build on the success of this year’s competition, making it even bigger next year.”
