Kantor King Solomon High School in Redbridge is asking local businesses to help support a new scholarship it plans to introduce this year.
The awards, worth up to £3,000 each, would be open to key stage three students who show special aptitude in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths), the arts, PE or Jewish studies.
The school hopes to select five students in each of the year groups 7 to 9.
The beneficiaries would receive mentoring in their chosen area while the money could help cover the cost of such things as musical lessons or sports kit.
In turn, they would be expected to help develop their subject by promoting events, attending parent evenings and supporting other initiatives.
KKSHS says after the disruptions of lockdown “it is more important than ever to identify and support exceptional talent and to help it flourish —we believe this will support our most talented students in achieving their potential”.
