Celebrate Pesach with Samsung

Some people adore spring cleaning and can’t wait to start their pre-Pesach routine, creating impressive housework spreadsheets on Excel as soon as Simchat Torah is over.  They feel a vacuum in their lives, which can be filled only by a grand cleaning campaign. Personally, if I can’t zoom round the whole house in half an hour, I’d rather let sleeping dust lie and put my feet up with a mug of coffee.

So this year, I have worked out a new routine to take the pain out of Pesach preparations. Firstly – a brand-new vacuum cleaner. Farewell to my old cylinder cleaner, which makes as much noise as an enthusiastic seven-year-old trying to slurp the last bit of milkshake up a straw, but leaves dust and crumbs untroubled in the carpet fibres. A new vacuum cleaner will do the job in a quarter of the time and leave no nook unvacuumed.

Obviously I’ll still schlep the once-a-year Pesach crockery out of its hiding place. Each faded plate carries happy memories of family gatherings, singing to a raucous mix of disputed tunes, over the remains of a five-course dinner.

But instead of spending hours trying to renovate ancient crusty pans that look even worse than I remembered, I will invest in a new set. There is so much extra cooking from scratch at Passover – and a new set of super hi-tech pans will make it into a pleasure instead of a pain. I might even be tempted to get an additional set to use after the festival.
