The founding teacher of Alma Primary in Whetstone, Marc Shoffren, is to leave at the end of the academic year in July after 13 years at the helm of the cross-communal free school.
James Burns, the chair of governors, said: “Mr Shoffren has worked extraordinarily hard to create and sustain our school, and we will be sorry to see him leave. We wish him the very best of luck and success for the next stage of his career.”

Shoffren said it had been “an incredible honour to be the founding head of Alma, developing and nurturing our school from its very inception.
“As many guests and our staff regularly remind me, our school is special place, emanating kindness and warmth to everyone who enters our building. I have learnt and grown over my 13 years leading Alma and I want to extend huge thanks to all in our school community for the support that I and our school have received.”
The school is rated as good in all areas by Ofsted and was considered close to outsanding in 2019.
Assistant head Vered Rose Simons has been promoted to Alma’s first deputy head.
