Before resuming his judging role on The Apprentice, Claude Littner gave a favourable appraisal of Rimon Jewish Primary at its fifth anniversary dinner, which raised more than £70,000.

The dinner was held in the hall of Golders Green Synagogue, where the school is based. Mr Littner, a longstanding Golders Green member, was interviewed by parent-governor Adam Quint on his upbringing and professional life.

He said afterwards that he had “absolutely loved” being involved in the event. “Rimon has clearly been an incredible success with terrific teachers and a passion for excellence. Long may it continue.”

Rimon has grown from an initial reception class of 15 to a roll of 164.

Year five pupils Alma and Daria Segal — who spoke no English when they moved to London from Israel — told diners about their experiences at Rimon. Harvey Belovski, Golders Green’s rabbi and the Rimon principal, gave a dvar Torah. Rabbi Belovski considers it “a tremendous privilege to be involved with a school like Rimon. It instils in pupils a love of learning and the need to care for each other, wider society and the environment. The hard work of staff, governors and parents over the past five years has truly borne fruit.”
