Syrian restaurant pop-up at JW3 is a taster of aid work

articlemain

In partnership with World Jewish Relief, Zest at JW3 is to host its first pop-up meat restaurant, Taste of Syria, with £1 from each meal going towards WJR’s work with Syrian refugees.

Opening from March 6 to April 9, the restaurant will be housed in a dome structure in JW3’s piazza.

Traditional Syrian-Jewish dishes will be cooked on an outside grill.

The kosher menu will include lamb kofta, muhummara marinated chicken wings and saffron and orange marinated chicken, as well as vegetarian options. Diners will be served complimentary cardamom coffee and mint tea.

Accompanying events will include
the official launch night on March 16, highlighting the plight of those fleeing war and persecution in Syria.

Paul Anticoni, WJR’s chief executive, said the partnership would also offer diners “insight into World Jewish Relief’s work with refugees, demonstrating the difference we have made thanks to the community’s generosity”.

Raymond Simonson, his JW3 counterpart, noted: “We have a reputation for bringing the best of Israeli and Middle Eastern cuisine to the Jewish community. So our chefs are excited to create a new menu inspired by the
flavours of Syria.”
