The biggest-ever Kosher Food and Wine Experience (KFWE) was hailed by organisers as a “marvellous success” as wine merchants reported a growing demand in the community for high-end wines to match the non-kosher market.

Hundreds of gastronomes, representing all sections of the Jewish community, attended Wednesday evening’s event at the Sheraton Grand hotel on Park Lane, in central London.

Wines from France, Italy, Israel, Spain, Argentina, Chile, the US, Australia and New Zealand were on offer, as were a selection of kosher whiskeys.

Benjamin Gestetner of Kedem Europe, organisers of the KFWE said: “It was great fun, and a very enjoyable evening for our guests, and the wine-makers.

“We had more people than ever at last night’s event, exploring the wines and spirits, and enjoying the expansive buffet," he said.

“Kosher wine drinkers are becoming more sophisticated, expecting a range of wines produced from top grape varieties which is comparable with the non-kosher wine market, and we love to bring wines from more countries, and more wine-makers, for our guests to try each year.

“We love seeing hundreds of people come together annually to celebrate the achievements of the kosher wine industry and enjoy what the kosher market has to offer.”

Guests at the £60-a-ticket event were also treated to a dinner buffet by caterer Arieh Wagner, which included Chinese food, sushi, Middle Eastern cuisine and salt beef sandwiches.
