Kindertransport group's plea to Theresa May over child refugees

Lord Dubs and Barbara Winton in delegation to Number Ten

Accompanied by Barbara Winton, daughter of "British Schindler" Sir Nicholas Winton, refugees who came to Britain on the Kindertransport have delivered a letter to Downing Street urging Theresa May to honour their legacy by helping children caught up in the global refugee crisis.

The former Kinder - including Lord Dubs - called on the Prime Minister to deliver on the government’s promise to resettle 480 children from Europe through the scheme arising from the Dubs amendment to the Immigration Act.

The letter reminds the PM that “your former constituent Sir Nicholas Wintonhoped that by telling the story of the Kindertransport, it might inspire today’s generation to act with similar courage of conviction.

"In this spirit, we would like to request to meet with you to discuss how 80 years after the first trains arrived, Britain can appropriately commemorate this anniversary and pay forward the legacy of the Kindertransport for future generations.”
