A scheme to recreate Tel Aviv’s “White Night” festival in London by the Jewish Community Centre has been scrapped.
The festival, which would have featured a street market and street entertainment running into the early hours of Sunday, was due to start late on Saturday night.
JCC chief executive Nick Viner said the event had been cancelled because of logistic difficulties. “It was entirely our decision not to go ahead. Ultimately the logistics of organising such an event proved to be too much in the time we had,” said Mr Viner.
“A lot of people have been disappointed and a lot of work went into trying to make it happen. But we didn’t want to do something at half cock that might upset people, so we decided to cancel it.”
