The former salesman has volunteered at the Crumpsall-based Nicky Alliance Day Centre since the beginning of the year

Why the Nicky Alliance?
I wanted to help out at the centre as it is an integral part of the Manchester community.

What does your volunteering involve?
I help in many areas of the centre. I go out with the bus drivers to help Nicky Alliance members on and off the buses and into the centre; after their visit I escort them on and off the buses and back into their homes. I also assist the fundraising department with mailshots and with any raffle-ticket selling as and when it is needed. I help out in the lounge, serving teas and coffees to the members; I also help out in the art room when needed.

What do you most enjoy about being a volunteer?
I enjoy being with the members, I find it extremely rewarding. I like to help others.
