The first-year horticulture student at Capel Manor College in Enfield has volunteered at WJR’s Neasden warehouse for nearly two years

Why WJR?
My grandma gave me the idea of volunteering for WJR. She saw an article in WJR’s newsletter about its humanitarian relief programme, Gifts in Kind (GiK). I thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a project that provided aid to Jewish and non-Jewish people.

What does your volunteering involve?
I assist the warehouse manager in running GiK. I sort through boxes of donated goods from manufacturers and the community. I also assist in packing goods, lifting heavy boxes and helping other volunteers in the packing sessions.

What do you most enjoy about being a volunteer?
It’s great to do something worthwhile that is physically challenging.
