Around 250 legal professionals turned out to hear top QC David Pannick address the annual Young Norwood lawyers' reception at the Goldman Sachs offices. Mr Pannick was scathing about the move to extend the time a suspect can be detained without charge to 42 days, arguing: "The government has failed to produce a coherent case. Our response to international terrorism should not be to abandon the values that we are fighting for." Daily Telegraph legal editor Joshua Rozenberg chaired the event, which raised £26,000.
