It was an unusually quiet night for London's young party-goers as they raised nearly £9,000 for Magen David Adom from a silent disco.

More than 400 quiet revellers turned up for the new Young MDA committee's inaugural event at the Hideout Club, London Bridge, on Saturday night.

Rather than music blaring out of speakers, guests were given wireless headphones and the opportunity to switch between channels to suit their musical preferences.

Serious clubbers chose dance music while mainstream music fans opted for the channel offering sugary 1990s' pop from the likes of Ricky Martin and Steps.
