JC readers were encouraged to visit the Ideal Home Exhibition at Olympia. The Palestinian arts and crafts stall could “hardly fail to be of interest to our readers”, said a report on the exhibition. The stall included Jerusalem pottery, Hebron glassware, and Palestinian mother-of-pearl goods.
March 7 1952:
The Czechoslovakian and Polish governments assured Israel that Jews with relatives in Israel would be granted permission to emigrate.
Israeli Minister to Poland and Czechoslovakia Dr L Kubovy reported that Jewish religious activities were continuing in both countries.
March 1 1985:
Students in Loughborough and Birmingham achieved a double victory against anti-Zionist motions. Students had attempted to back policies equating Zionism with racism. The then UJS chairman Simon Myerson said that if the motions had passed, “they could be used at any time as a pretext for banning Jewish societies”.
