February 25 1938:
Crowds in Jerusalem flocked to witness the feats of renowned strongman Simon Rudi. The modern-day Samson caused a sensation by carrying 10 men on a steel girder, pulling a loaded cart by his teeth and remaining immovable despite being pulled by horses and a car.

February 23 1973:
A survey put the Jewish population of Greater London at 273,000, but with only 17,600 living south of the river Thames. The study, Synagogue Statistics and the Jewish Population of Great Britain, also revealed that the number of Jews in London’s East End had declined by 86,000 in 50 years.

February 24 2006:
A Jewish businessman came up with a novel scheme to start a strictly Orthodox community in the Kent seaside town of Ramsgate. Samuel Berger, grandson of the founder of the Berger property empire, proposed settling families from Stamford Hill in London on land surrounding the tomb of the renowned Victorian philanthropist Sir Moses Montefiore who had lived in the area.
