The long-time sweethearts are both 24. Suzy lives in Radlett, studied at Birmingham University and the Agency of Jewish Education and teaches at a north-west London primary school. Michael, from Edgware, took accounting and finance at Nottingham Trent University and is currently studying to become a chartered accountant. They enjoy Nintendo Wii, supporting Barnet FC, going to the cinema and dining with friends. Suzy is a Radlett Synagogue member, Michael belongs to the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue in Holland Park. They plan to marry next year.

How we met
“Just over seven years ago at a mutual friend’s 18th birthday party,” Suzy recalls. “Michael’s mobile phone wasn’t working at the time so I offered to attempt to fix it by seeing if it would call mine, hence getting his number.”

The proposal
“It was New Year’s Eve at about 11.45pm. We were at a friend’s house and Michael mentioned that he had left his mobile phone in the car. He asked if I would come with him to get it as he wanted to call his family after midnight. He appeared to be searching for his phone but turned quite suddenly to me with a ring and asked me to marry him. He then took his camera out to catch my reaction. Let’s just say, those photos won’t be going into any album any time soon! We celebrated with champagne and fireworks with our friends. You could say mobile phones played quite a large part in connecting the two of us, from our initial meeting to the proposal.”

The wedding
“As we both have sisters who are due to get married this year, we hope to get married in the summer of 2011. We would love to have an outdoor, country-style wedding. All I have chosen so far are my bridesmaids. I trust Michael to choose his own wedding outfit.”
