Help us shape our community

A 'complete Jewish experience on one site' is being created by the sea, with exciting incentives for home-hunters

Anglo-Jewry’s most ambitious development, geared to revitalising the Brighton community, has attracted 500 expressions of interest from potential residents. Entering its final stages of construction at a prime Hove location, BNJC (Brighton and Hove Jewish Community) will offer a complete Jewish experience on the one site.

There will be a new synagogue for project partner Brighton and Hove Hebrew Congregation, a kosher restaurant and café, a bakery and deli, a nursery with a Jewish curriculum, a co-working area and a mikveh, plus space for educational, social, leisure and cultural activities. All will be available to the local and wider community. But they will be on the doorstep of the buyers or renters of the 45 on-site properties.

At the top end of the market, there are ten four- to five-bedroom mews houses with private gardens, as well as penthouse apartments with sea and city views.

At the other end of the price structure will be five affordable homes and a variety of two-bedroom apartments that qualify for the Government’s Help to Buy scheme for first-time buyers.

Many young families are among those who have registered interest in the new homes and around a third of those on the list are from outside Brighton and the surrounding area.

To give people the opportunity to try out BNJC before committing, many of the spacious two-bedroom homes will initially be available for rental.

A further selling point is the inclusion of parking spaces — which are at a premium in Brighton and Hove — and the scheme is only a stroll away from the seafront.

At the project’s countdown celebration earlier this year, BNJC CEO Marc Sugarman expressed his excitement at the opportunity this development offers young Jewish people in the UK: “Brighton is a city for young people — so vibrant, cosmopolitan and creative,” he said.

“What I really hope to do is get the message out there to young Jewish couples throughout the UK that with the stunning apartments we’re building on-site our new Jewish hub and the financial support available, this city is a great place to call home.

“For a young family, this project represents an adventure. Amazing facilities a stone’s throw from the beach and less than an hour to London. Come, be a part of our journey and help shape our community.”

For couples and families looking for a change of scenery, this new residential development in Brighton could be ideal.

With a shul, nursery, co-working membership and kosher restaurant to help you settle in, the two-to-five-bedroom apartments and mews houses could be home to your perfect Jewish community by the sea.

And, for young couples and families who want to be proudly involved in revitalising the Jewish community, there will be significant and substantial financial incentives available to support them with their relocation.

Often referred to as ‘London by the sea’, Brighton & Hove is a popular choice for those who desire the best of both worlds. Within touching distance of the beautiful seaside and the buzz of Brighton, Sapphire Hove presents a unique opportunity to re-locate to a cosmopolitan coastal town.

The development is moments from Hove Promenade, which is perfect for leisurely afternoons on the beach, soaking up the tranquil atmosphere of the seaside and for relaxing walks along the green open space of Hove Lawns.

Boutique shops, vibrant cafés and award-winning restaurants are also plentiful on Hove High Street nearby, while several highly acclaimed schools, leisure centres and two beautiful parks are only a stroll away from the scheme.

Arts and heritage are all around, as the development is neighbour to the family-friendly Hove museum and surrounded by some of the 3,500 beautiful listed buildings of Brighton and Hove.

With easy transport links to Hove station and Brighton station (each a five-minute drive away), it’s also only a 50-minute train journey to central London.

The developers are aiming for an October or November opening, and a show house is now ready, allowing groups of potential buyers and renters to visit and tour the development.
