A Jewish man has been sent to prison for seven years after luring a teenager to a restaurant in Golders Green and repeatedly stabbing him following a feud over a girl.
Jacob Butchoff, 20, pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent and was handed the sentence in Wood Green Crown Court today.
He was arrested in September last year after he attacked an 18-year-old man at a Chinese restaurant in Golders Green Road.
The victim had begun a relationship with Butchoff’s ex-girlfriend in 2007 which prompted animosity between the two.
Butchoff, who lives in Brent Street, Hendon, had called the victim two days before the attack threatening his family if he did not agree to meet.
The victim agreed to meet him in the restaurant on September 28 and brought his father with.
During the meeting Butchoff produced a knife, drew it across the victim’s neck and stabbed his body.
The victim’s father ran over and struck Butchoff over the head.
Butchoff dropped the knife and was stopped by a passing Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) as he ran from the scene. As the victim was lead to the ambulance, Butchoff shouted: “I will kill you. Just wait until I get out.”
The victim was taken to hospital and required stitches to his neck, ear and back.
DC Matthew Bennett, of Barnet CID, said: “Butchoff took not only a knife to this meeting but also a chilling resolve to do serious harm to another.
“It was only by the quick reactions of the victim that the consequences of his action did not result in a tragedy.
“Butchoff was detained moments after the crime and the personal cost of his actions quickly made apparent.”
