Glasgow’s Giffnock Synagogue was a hive of activity on Mitzvah Day, as arts and crafts and cookery programmes were staged by UJIA in aid of charities including the Samaritans Christmas appeal. Donated food went to Jewish Care Scotland and greetings cards were dispatched to Scottish and Israeli soldiers.
“It was a good day,” said UJIA worker Matthew Goldring. “We did a lot of creative things and I was very pleased. It’s all about coming along and doing good deeds, even if it’s just something small.”
Mark’s Deli also organised a coffee morning at the shul in aid of the Macmillan cancer charity.
