Comedian and actor David Schneider entertained more than 30 Jewish students at a comedy evening in Liverpool.
The event, hosted by Chabad, saw Mr Schneider perform a routine of Jewish jokes. He is best known for his roles in The Day Today and I'm Alan Partridge.
Rabbi Shmuli Brown, Chabad's Liverpool universities chaplain, and his wife Tzivia transformed their home into a mini-theatre, complete with buffet, refreshments and music.
Mr Schneider picked out individual students from the audience to join in with his routine, which the singing of a Yiddish rendition of Frank Sinatra's New York, New York.
After the event, Mr Schneider said: "It was weird to do it in the living room, but it was big enough, so I think it worked. It was a real laugh."
Audience member and student Alex Dover said: "I've never been picked on by a comedian before but I think I gave as good as I got. It was a great night."
Rabbi Brown added: "It was amazing to see how David intertwined religion and comedy in such a unique way. The students were rolling with laughter and enjoyed being in the presence of an extremely successful Jewish
comedian."
