Sarah Silverman walked off with a Creative Arts Emmy award last weekend, and cheekily thanked her ex-boyfriend in her acceptance speech. Why cheekily? Because the comedian got the award for her song about cheating on him with Hollywood star Matt Damon. Silverman split with talkshow host Jimmy Kimmel in July after a five-year relationship, during which she recorded a comedy music video for his TV talk show called I'm F**king Matt Damon. The video picked up two awards at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday. Silverman said: "Thanks to the person for whom this whole video was made: Jimmy Kimmel, who broke my heart - oh, who'll always have a place in my heart." Silverman also thanked Damon - well, sort of: "I'm going to be honest, (he) had very little to do with this being this popular."
Disappointment for the boys as Strictly Come Dancing hottie Rachel Stevens would rather dress like a "real princess" than wear the skimpy numbers suggested to her for the BBC1 show. The former SClub singer and lads' mag favourite told The Sun how, for the early part of the series, she'd like to keep her figure under wraps. "I went for a fitting the other day and they want me to wear this two-piece. I was like: ‘Give me a break!'" But considering she's expected to be one of the longer lasting competitors, she may yet be seen in some sexy numbers. In fact, things seem to be going pretty well for the pint-sized North London-born beauty at the moment. She's soon to wed fiancé Alex Bourne, and has revealed her desire to launch her own perfume. "I want to land my own perfume deal and I think that this show will help show off the fact I am a real girl's girl." The multi-talented star, who kissed goodbye to her twenties this year, admits: "Ideally I would love to mix singing and acting but you can only be a pop star for so many years. I mean, at 30 it's a bit sad, right?"
Mark Ronson has split from fashion model Daisy Lowe following "a row over something small which escalated into something rather big". A source told The Mail on Sunday: "Daisy got very upset and shot at Mark that she was leaving him. He completely surprised her by saying: ‘Fine, Leave!'" Friends of the couple blame the 14 year age gap, with 33 year old Ronson wanting to settle down and Lowe, 14 years his junior, not ready to.
The case brought against the makers of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, has been thrown out of an American court. A driving instructor and two teachers claimed that the makers of the movie spoof, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen, deceived them into appearing in it, but Judge Loretta Preska decided otherwise, explaining that all three of the claimants had accepted money and signed release forms consenting to their appearance in a "documentary-style" film.
The sad events surrounding Amy Winehouse show no signs of letting up. Hubby Blake Fielder-Civil is still banged up in jail, and Winehouse didn't even make it to her own 25th birthday party, leaving dad Mitch, mum Janis, and a bunch of pals, including the newly single Mark Ronson, waiting in a Soho nightclub for her. This just days after she arrived totally dishevelled, barely able to stand up and two hours late for a gig in Camden, with one fan telling the Daily Star: "Amy looked terrible; she couldn't even walk. To me it looked like she was a few days away from death."
French President Nicolas Sarkozy's son, Jean Sarkozy, has married a nice Jewish girl - actually a nice rich Jewish girl, which mean that any Sarkozy grandchildren will be Jewish. There were rumours that Sarkozy had intended to convert to marry the heiress Jessica Sebaoun-Darty, but in the end they had a civic ceremony at the Town Hall of Neuilly, where his father was mayor for 20 years.
