Daniel Radcliffe and Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall have teamed up in the film My Boy Jack. Cattrall plays the American wife of Rudyard Kipling, while Radcliffe plays their son, Jack Kipling. Cattrall has admitted to being quite a fan of the young actor. She enjoyed Harry Potter and managed to get an eyeful of the unclothed Radcliffe in the London production of Equus. Unfortunately Radcliffe has not shown such enthusiasm for the actress’s work. He admits to having been “a little freaked out” by Sex and the City when he was younger, but now his new co-star has given him his own box set of DVDs of the series, I imagine the pressure is on for him to watch — and enjoy — them.
Parents across the land, beware… not only is Disney making High School Musical 3 at the moment, but they have just confirmed that there will soon be a High School Musical 4 getting under way. But will Zac Efron and his co-star Vanessa Hudgens be returning for the fourth instalment? A source at Disney Channel Worldwide has said: “We have to have a new story. Will we have all the cast back? Probably not, but we hope to have some.” Considering the pair are already 20 and 19 respectively, it may well be time for them to leave high school.
What a week it has been for the absurdly beautiful Natalie Portman. The Star Wars actress is not only being lined up to star in the new film version of the Emily Brontë classic novel, Wuthering Heights, but has also been spotted on the arm of a new man. Portman has always liked to keep her private life private. She positively blushed when I questioned her on the romance in her life, but she’s seen in New York getting rather cosy with bearded folk singer Devandra Banhart. A passer-by told the News of The World: “They looked loved-up and couldn’t keep their hands off each other.”
Gwyneth Paltrow has hit back at suggestions that her marriage to Coldplay front man Chris Martin is in any way troubled. The Shakespeare in Love actress said the rumours are absurd and that having a family has made her feel complete. Paltrow says: “I used to always be searching and always lonely. I never feel like that any more. Having a family has made me feel whole.” She insists the reason her and her husband are rarely snapped together is because “we just don’t want to be one of those couples”, and explains that the press interpreting this as them having problems is just “ridiculous”.
Amy Winehouse’s reclusive behaviour has been causing concerns. A source told The Mail on Sunday: “Amy is staying at home as much as possible because she is so upset about her skin. She is devastated her skin is in such a bad way, she’s very low.” Winehouse has also just pulled out of recording her third album which was planned for late 2008 — it is now unlikely to happen until 2009. Some friends have bizarrely suggested that a recent obsession with ironing could be the cause for the delay, saying: “She has become absolutely obsessed with ironing things. Not just her clothes but also towels, sheets, scarves. Anything, really. She’s a very obsessive person and has always been addicted to something.” If only that was as rock’n’roll as she got.
Tzofit Grant will not be taking part as a celebrity partner in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing. There has been speculation in the Israeli press that the wife of Chelsea manager Avram Grant was to appear in the BBC1 ballroom-dancing talent show, but she has told Schmooze there is no truth in the story — although she admitted it would great if there was. Grant refused to go into details, but did reveal that she is working on a play — I think she means a stage drama, rather than a free-kick routine.
