V Norwood’s Woodstock Dell home in Kenton, which supports eight people with learning disabilities, has maintained its rating of good in all categories with the Care Quality Commission.
All Woodcock Dell residents are non-verbal and the CQC report congratulated staff on the effectiveness of communications, achieved though their “knowledge about each person’s needs and the respectful, sensitive and caring manner” with which they operated.
Parents of the residents praised employees for their hard work and dedication.
Welcoming the CQC’s findings, a Norwood representative said evidence of the caring environment was the recent funeral of a Woodcock Dell resident, attended by residents, their families and Norwood staff.
“The eulogy spoke of how the world saw all the things the individual couldn’t do — but Norwood saw all that she could.” It also highlighted “the richness with which she had infused the lives of those close to her, most especially that of her support worker and friend of the past 18 years”.
Norwood director of services Ron Brown said another positive CQC report for one of the charity’s facilities illustrated “our commitment to ensuring the people we support are at the heart of everything we do”.
