Or will Hague bring Galloway's dream to fruition?
Th following is a comment posted on "Socialist Unity":
The ‘frantic Israeli apologists urgently’ getting out their propogandais is not having their desired effect. Most people see through their fabrications. A sea change has occured. The ‘poor little Israel’ has been replaced by ‘big killer Israel’ as the new ‘common sense’. Millions of people do have the ‘good sense’ to side with the Palestinians, despite BBC bias and Israeli propoganda.
Galloway’s speech today was, as always, firey and inspiring.
Politically he repeated something I have heard all week, that the consevatives Cameroon and Haig have had a better reponse to the Gaza blocade and siege than did Blair and Miliband of (old) New Labour. The Con Dems say the siege should end.
Do comrades agree with this?
Two things need saying.
1. This Isareli atrocity is qualitavely different to others. Assasinating Europeans in International waters, abroad a Turkish (Nato country) ship full of people from across the world, including German parliamentarians, is not the same (to those who run the system) as killing Palestinians in Gaza. Last week the FT had an editorial saying the whole siege policy has failed. They fear Israel’s actions bring greater political instability.
The Con Dems have more or less repeated the US line.
Would a re-elcted New Labour government really have been more pro Israeli?
2. The response to Isarel’s Flotilla murders has led to more anger, more street protests. There is no sign our movement has been intimidated, Far from it. In Manchester on Monday hundreds tried to storm the BBC. This sort of street activity is not what a government about to make massive cuts wants to see.
is it true that the coalition Tories are better than Labour (was) on Palestine?

As some of you are aware, William Hague has called for "unfettered access" to Gaza. So, I assume, that the new Foreign Secretary will support the following:
Viva Palestina founder George Galloway, speaking to a crowd of around 20,000 protesting outside the Israeli Embassy in London (on Saturday 5th June) revealed the latest plan to bring about the end of the siege on Gaza.
Two simultaneous convoys - one by land the other by sea - will set forth on SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 12th bound for Gaza. Viva Palestina, the International Committee to break the Siege on Gaza and any allies who will join us will organise the two convoys.
The land convoy will leave from London and travel across Europe to Turkey Syria and ultimately through the Rafah Gate into Gaza. Co-operation will be offered and sought with all relevant governments and agencies.
It is expected the convoy will pick up vehicles and volunteers in each country through which it passes. The target is to enter Gaza with 500 vehicles.
The sea convoy will travel around the Mediterranean gathering ships, cargo, volunteers from each country. The target is to enter Gaza with sixty ships.
The aim will be to arrive on Gaza's frontiers at the same time. And to enter with the world's largest ever aid convoys. And to thereby render the siege null and void.
