The Guardian has a good piece today asking why the rate of convictions for rape is so low. At the end, it canvasses the views of some experts. Miranda Moore QC, described as a "barrister with wide experience of prosecuting and defending in rape cases", has this to say:Twenty years ago it was not unknown to have a QC prosecuting. These days it's exceptional. Can someone explain please what that means? Twenty years ago it was merely 'not unknown'. And today, too, she doesn't say it never happens, merely that it's rare. Isn't that the same thing?
