The death of Ivan Cameron is a tragedy for David and Samantha Cameron, and our hearts surely go out to them.
Ben Brogan makes a good point about the scrapping of today's PMQs:
The pace and tone of politics is being shaped by having three party leaders with young children.
But I have to say I am uneasy about the cancellation. I understand and respect Gordon Brown's entirely decent motive in suggesting it, but I think it is misguided. Mr Cameron's personal tragedy might prevent his participation; but it should not lead to the event itself being scrapped.
Ivan Cameron's death is a family matter - the rest of us ought to have no involvement in it. And it ought to have no impact on the rest of us, other than as fellow human beings who feel for the Camerons. It certainly ought to have no impact on the running of Parliament and our democracy.
