I've written this week about Jeremy Bowen, the BBC's Middle East Editor.
Here's another example of Mr Bowen's so-called objectivity, from a 'two way' on the BBC:
Presenter: Jeremy, we heard Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni saying that so far, the operation has been in her words a success...what then is Israel's strategy?
Jeremy Bowen: Well I think from Israel's point of view, its gone very well because they've managed to attack buildings that have people in - people and bases that have people in them - which I think...including a passing out parade for the police. So that is one of the reasons why they've managed to kill a lot of people, and that is part of Israel's strategy I think, to kill as many Hamas people as possible.
So in the view of the BBC's Middle East Editor, the Israeli aim is "to kill as many Hamas people as possible." Butchery, in other words, for the sake of it.
One would not be surprised to hear his exact words from a Hamas spokesman.
I'd like to write that we should expect more from the BBC. Experience shows, however, that we should not.
