It’s Jack for the second year running for boys. But for baby girls, there’s a new entry, Ella, atop the annual list of names culled from the JC’s S&P columns. But strikingly, the Noah/Noa variant that crosses the male/female divide is the third most popular name for newborn boys and the second for girls. But last year’s most popular girls’ name, Lily, drops out altogether from the top 10. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if, next year, we were able to report a move towards Shimon, in honour of the great man?
