It barely seems possible that it has been almost a year since last year's first, and hugely successful, Shabbat UK, so vivid are the memories.
Over 100,000 of us took part in the largest ever communal project. Now it is time for this year's Shabbat UK on October 23-24 - a bigger and even better occasion, with which the JC is proud to be associated as the media partner.
Quite apart from the traditional challah bake - it may be only a year old but it already feels right to call it a tradition - this year will see all sorts of new activities, which we will be previewing every week in the run-up to the day itself. We hope - even expect - that there will be still more participants this year.
But in some ways the scale of the event is its least important aspect, because while Shabbat is always communal, it is also deeply individual, and one of the main purposes of Shabbat UK is to draw all of us together in whatever way we each, individually, feel comfortable.
