The JC is sometimes said to claim all sorts of actors, sports stars and entertainers as Jewish. That is, of course, a calumny. The boot is usually on the other foot — an apt metaphor, perhaps, for David Beckham, whose Jewish roots are well known. But while the global icon would be welcome to join us on any Friday night, we fervently hope that this week’s other ‘maybe Jew’, Ken Livingstone, steers well clear.
