Whatever may be wrong with our community, there is an awful lot that is very right - not the least of which is our fundamental generosity.
To raise nearly £200,000 within four weeks for a group that has no direct connection to our community might seem surprising, although there is, of course, a deep indirect connection with our own refugee past.
And no one should ever be surprised by the Jewish charitable instinct.
