One recurring topic of conversation among New York Jews is that strange discrepancy between President Trump’s apparent inability to distance himself from the alt-right — in essence, American neo-Nazis — and his longstanding and continued reliance on individual Jews.

One case in point is Michael Cohen, an attorney who has served Trump and his businesses in various ways.

Mr Cohen has been instrumental in the legal issues swirling around the alleged sexual relationship between Mr Trump and the adult actress Stephanie Clifford, who is better known by her nom de porn Stormy Daniels.

In 2016, she was paid $130,000 (£91,800) in hush money.
