Israeli Defence Minister Ehud Barak and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have already accused Iran, or its proxy Hizbollah, of perpetrating the attacks.
Ron Prosor, the former Israeli ambassador to Britain and now Israel's envoy to the UN, called on the Security Council to condemn the attacks.
In a letter, Mr Prosor said: "Israel expects [the Security Council] to issue a clear condemnation today, without any further delay or equivocation.
"This campaign bears the unmistakable fingerprints of the Iranian regime and the highest echelons of the Hizbollah leadership.
"Their actions constitute a clear threat to the security and stability of Lebanon, to the Middle East, and to the many countries that have been targeted."
