articlemain

A 19-year-old Israeli soldier has been injured in a sniper shooting at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron.

Magen David Adom has said that its paramedics are treating the female victim, who suffered a bullet wound in her lower body and is in a stable condition at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem.

A manhunt has been launched for the Palestinian attacker, who reportedly fired the shot from the nearby Abu Sneineh neighbourhood.

The Times of Israel reported that Hanoch Zelinger, an MDA paramedic, said: “When we arrived on the scene, we saw a young woman, about 19, fully conscious and being cared for by an army medical team that was near the incident.

“She suffered from a penetration wound in her lower body. We loaded her up to the ambulance, and during the evacuation gave her intravenous liquids, a bandage and medication.”
